What I recall most vividly about John Lewis is his passion, his generosity of spirit which impelled him to share his insights with all who were genuinely interested, his joie de vivre, and his superb intellect. He had a rare, first-hand grasp/integration of reality and the ideas that make human life possible and able to thrive. Plus, he was just enjoyable to be around with his interest in almost everything, his big heart, his big brain, his ready smile, his keen interest in whoever it was he was talking to. What an irreparable, unhappy loss for anyone who loved him.
